Summary: Estadio Alberto J. Armando, or La Bombonera, is the home to the Boca Juniors, one of Buenos Aires’s most popular soccer teams. Watching a game at this stadium is an experience not to be missed as the fans are almost as famous as the team itself! La Bombonera is one of the most famous sites in Buenos Aires and home to some of Argentina’s most famous football players. The atmosphere on game day is absolutely electric and simply explosive when a goal is scored.
The stadium earned its nick name “La Bombonera” or “chocolate box” because it’s shape resembles just that- a sweets container.
The area before the stadium was built was a manure production facility. This unfortunate fact armed rival fans with their favorite nickname for Boca fans; “bostero” or someone that collects horse excrement.
Tip: This neighborhood has two tourist friendly areas, one called “El Caminito” and the other is the area (closely) around the stadium. Outside of these areas the neighborhood should be considered unsafe for exploring.

Falsified tickets have become as common as the demand to see a Boca game.
