What Happens When Pub Crawl Throws a Blow-OUT!

What could be crazier than the Buenos Aires Pub Crawl, an all-night, bar-hopping, booze-fest among friends new and old? Well, a party for singles looking to get drunk on Valentine’s Day sponsored by the Buenos Aires Pub Crawl. Now, the Buenos Aires Pub Crawl is always a smashing time. Sometimes, however, the good folks that run this Buenos Aires favorite throw a special party. On occasions like Fat Tuesday, St. Patrick’s Day, and even Valentine’s Day, the Pub Crawl make special arrangements and pull together what can only be described as a total blow-out of a party.

February 13 was no exception. For this most despised or holiday, Pub Crawl held its first annual Cupid is Stupid party at Koh Lanta in Palermo Viejo. A ten peso entrada got you into one of the biggest events of the night, as evidenced by the 45-minute wait at the door. Whether on the beautiful rooftop terrace smoking a hookah or downstairs at the bar mingling and pounding discounted drinks, it really was a gleeful night for all.

One highlight was when 40 pub-crawlers were unleashed on the party after completing their drinking tour around the city. Brandishing wristbands, they cut the line all at once, stepping up the crowd factor from comfortably packed to total mayhem. Among them was a large group of Brazilian fútbol fans, who began belting chants when the music cut out around four.

As my first single Valentine’s Day in a few years, I couldn’t have imagined a more raucous night than Cupid is Stupid. Partygoers began leaving around 4:30am, moving on to boliches and strange beds. Wallets were empty, livers were full and ears ringing with American pop music and Brazilian fútbol chants. I left satisfied and knowing two things for certain: that both the Buenos Aires Pub Crawl and the owners of Koh Lanta would be sleeping in a pile of money tonight, and that if I’m single in Buenos Aires for V-Day next year, I wouldn’t miss this party for the world.

At this point, you’re probably asking yourself, “so when’s the next big party?” Good question. Pub Crawl tours Buenos Aires bars and clubs every Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday as their regular routine. The next “BIG ONE” will be their St. Patty’s Day party on March 17.
