When it comes to creative style and high design in Buenos Aires, there is no neighborhood more exciting than Palermo. The tree-lined cobblestone streets are filled with the boutiques of the most classic Argentine designers as well as fresh faces taking on the BA fashion scene. If there’s a place for one stop shopping in Buenos Aires, it’s here.

Begin your Palermo shopping day at Lupe, a youthful, fun boutique on El Salvador. After starting out as a well-kept secret, Lupe (El Salvador 4567) grew into a popular destination for comfortable cotton clothes, relaxed jeans, and even a few cute pairs of shoes. This store is tailored to the casual dresser looking for the ultimate in comfort with a hip twist. Never lacking in trendy personality but with the durability to last through several seasons, the clothes at Lupe will leave your closet stocked for summer.

After you’ve purchased your fabulous outfit at Lupe, set your sights on shoes at Alfonsina Fal (Gurruchaga 1741). The narrow pink door on Gurruchaga presents a bright, colorful image to the innocent shopper, and the shoes inside are the ultimate reflection of this spunky appearance. The new spring/summer collection is armed with pink and sea green sandals decked out with girly bows, as well as a large selection of flats and ballerinas. For a touch of fun, the store also sells feminine flower pins that can be attached to the round toe of your shoes for a whole new look. And with prices ranging from 250 to the high 300s, you’re guaranteed to get a better deal here than at your typical brand name store.

For the classic leather bag, head over to Thames and stop in at Luria (Thames 1787). The current collection provides a range of choices from clutches to mini backpacks, in addition to the inimitable tote bag. And at Luria, practicality is not overlooked. The cutest model of the bunch is a square clutch decorated with a wide bow. Don’t want to hold this bag in your hand all night? No problem. The bow strap can be pulled over your wrist for a snug fit that shows off your bag while keeping you comfortable. Problem solved. As a complement to the stylish purses, Luria offers a selection of belts, wallets, and necklaces. When you leave this store, you’ll have enough leather to last a lifetime.

Speaking of leather, no boutique makes a better leather jacket than Doma (El Salvador 4792). Creativity abounds at this small corner store on El Salvador. Whether it’s the traditional black jacket or a flashy blue model, you can find it here. My fave is the white cropped jacket stained to pull together a rock n roll ensemble. Although it may sound a bit on the eclectic side, try it on. You won’t be disappointed.

For some of the most interesting jewelry in all of Palermo, veer off the main streets to find Gabriela Horvat (Honduras 5238). Friendly Gabriela combines materials such as silk, wool, and smooth silver to create a unique piece that is practically art for the body. You will find a wide variety of rings and earrings, but the star pieces are her colorful necklaces made of rustic silk, silver, and quartz. If there’s one thing that can liven up a casual outfit, it’s a standout accessory, and at Gabriela Horvat, you will certainly be able to find one.

A day of shopping would not be complete without a little satin and lace. If you’re in the market for lingerie, Beleidades (Honduras 5896) has you covered. Whether you prefer a cheeky babydoll look or a sexy vixen, the nightgowns, teddies, and bra sets at this cute boutique will have you decked out for a romantic evening in no time. In addition to the fabulous lingerie, Beleidades sells cute accessories like body glitter and bubble bath that will leave you feeling refreshed and beautiful. The selection of chic boutiques in Palermo is endless, and it seems like there is always a new store to explore. Keep your eyes open and have fun. That’s what fashion is all about.
