Hey Sharon!

The 86 bus does indeed go to the international airport, but* not all of them do. Some go different routes, and some you may have to get off at one point and reboard another...it's not the easiest way.

Manuel Tienda Lion is the safer, cheaper route. Buses that basically go to and from Buenos Aires for around $50 Pesos right now (Feb 2011)

How about some info about how to get TO the airport from town (other than a taxi or remise)? My nephew who is traveling on a very, very limited budget wants to take a colectivo from Palermo to the airport (yes he is young and has spare time :-)). Seems simple enough . . .but no. Cannot get definitive confirmation as to which bus it is. #8, 86? Another one? One place says the 86 goes to the airport. . somewhere else doesn't mention the airport on its route. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks.

Rex,

I'm a professional airport driver here, most flights will come in terminal A, not terminal C. As far as Peso exchange, the best one at the airport is Banco de la Nacion, if the line is too long, Banco Piano is 2nd best. Avoid Global Exchange at all costs, they take a HUGE cut.

And besides taking a risk with the Taxis (there can also be shortages) one can hire a private driver with a comfortable and safe premium car (like me), for much less than at home. Your driver will be waiting for you with a sign, and will take you to in without delay.

Speaking of Cubans, you can get great deals on them at Tabacom at Florida 860, inside the mall. Diego the owner, is an expert on Cigars and also speaks English fluently. 4313 3508

The tolls are between $AR3.80 and $AR4.80 (one way), depending on time of day.
