Superclasico

Boca Juniors vs River Plate. A.K.A. “El Superclasico”

The biggest rivalry in Argentina and many say South America. Listed amongst the top 10 greatest sports battles in the world, the Superclasico is a huge part of Buenos Aires. May 15, 2011 may mark a very special day for River Plate- presently they remain in 1st place (as of April 20th) and are looking for an easy victory. Then again, this is Boca Juniors and with rivalries there is meta-game!

Boca is playing on their home turf, La Bombonera. 49,500 fans normally are allowed into the stadium which reaches their maximum. 3,000 seats are reserved for the opposition. However, this is the Superclasico and 49,500 will be the “official count”. No man wishes to face 50,000+ raging Boca Juniors fans in La Bombonera let alone be marked as their arch nemesis. Only a greek god would be able to stop the Boca Juniors if they begin to establish any sort of underdog momentum against River Plate. During regular season, with “nothing special” games, that stadium rumbles with chants, drums, screams that can be heard from neighborhoods away. The Superclasico will be deafening.

So the stage is set! We have tickets and packages arranged and reserved. The question is where do you want to sit!?

Hola Connie! No, it’s not dangerous, but it will be very full. Popular is bench seating and is treated as a “let’s sell more tickets in this section than normal” by the Boca administration.
