It is here that the young Carlos Gardel made a name for himself, playing each night to the boisterous crowds that flocked from all over Buenos Aires to hear the sweet voice of the Argentinean tango icon. The café makes a great spot for a daytime drink but it’s at night when the venue really comes alive, as the elegant ballroom opens in order to stage one of Buenos Aires’ most impressive tango shows (with some very attractive dancers).
The show features a series of intricate music and dance numbers which merge classic and contemporary tango based around different settings: the grand palace, tropical melodies, sensual desire and so on. The sheer variety of the show makes this a great option. And let’s not forget the gourmet menu, likely to dazzle you as much as the dancing itself.
